Grasmere Wastewater Treatment Works

Grasmere Wastewater Treatment Works

Welcome to Grasmere Wastewater Treatment Works. Grasmere treatment works was created in the 1970s, alongside a new sewer network, to convert the village from septic tanks.

This is where your used water (from flushed loos, emptied sinks, baths, showers and household appliances) ends up. It’s here where we clean this water before safely returning it to the environment.

So, how do we do it? We use biological, chemical, and physical processes to remove any contaminants from the wastewater.

Jake shares more:

Over the years we’ve invested in the works, including a £5 million project to enhance our treatment processes to improve biodiversity in the area.
