Meet Freddy, our data analyst apprentice

Freddy is one of 46 apprentices to join the apprenticeship programme in 2023.

For Freddy the opportunity to complete a three year apprenticeship as a data analyst was just what he was looking for. He explained: “I’d already completed a T-level in Digital Business Services at Manchester College and developed a lot of the skills needed for a career in data analytics.

“I applied to join United Utilities because there are so many opportunities to develop my career here. There is a huge growth in the adoption of digital technology across all areas of the business which gives me the opportunity to work across many different departments.”

In 2023 we have recruited a dedicated cohort of data analysts to support the growth of digital technology in the business. Freddy will spend three years in training and putting his learning to use with different departments.

Apprentices are able to earn while they learn, studying Apprenticeship Standards which are endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships and the Department for Education, while also gaining hands-on experience. They get to work across different areas of the business relevant to their role, and benefit from a variety of personal development opportunities.

Freddy added: “My goal is to complete my apprenticeship and go on to work within the core data and analytics team and play a role in shaping the future direction of digital technology in the business.”
