Meet Samie, our field service engineer

Our apprentice, Samie, is training to be a field service engineer. He has really progressed and grown in confidence since he started with United Utilities. Samie can’t wait to continue his journey and aspires to achieve a role in management.“I have always been interested in a manual job – I love fixing things so a mechanical engineering role at United Utilities was the best option for me. Since starting my apprenticeship three years ago I have gained lots of new skills and it did not take me long to understand the role of an engineer.

“My field service engineering apprenticeship is four years and during my time I have attended college and completed my level 3 in engineering, which was provided by United Utilities.

“I chose United Utilities as it came highly recommended by family and friends for looking after their employees as well as their customers. The benefits and opportunities provided to employees was also a contributing factor in my decision.  After working at United Utilities for almost four years, it has definitely confirmed this and I know what a great company looks like.

“My future goals are to complete my apprenticeship and become a fully qualified mechanical engineer. However, I don’t want to stop there, I want to continue to push myself and strive for a role in management. “There are many amazing things I have gained from my apprenticeship - it has allowed me to learn new and different skills which pushes my capabilities. The type of skills I have gained I will use for the rest of my career. Since starting my role I have grown in confidence, both in and outside of work. This allows me to meet new people and build relationship with others at United Utilities.”
