Crosby sewer improvements

We look after miles and miles of sewers - around 49,000 miles! And every day, once you’ve washed the dishes or flushed the toilet a network of pipes help to take the used water away for treatment, before it’s safely returned to the environment. To make our sewer network as strong and efficient as possible, able to deal with the demand as communities across the North West grow and allow us to treat the wastewater to a much higher standard, we’re carrying out improvements across our network of pipes and treatment sites. We’ve brought forward major investment and are already getting on with lots of projects to build a stronger, greener and healthier North West.

  • We're carrying out work to replace one of our sewer pipes that runs through the coastal park.  The pipe has experienced a number of bursts and this work will strengthen the network to help prevent this happening. We understand that this area is a popular recreation space for the local community and visitors too.  Our team will be working in phases to minimise disruption as much as possible and are aiming to complete all phases in winter 2024. As requested by Sefton Council, once each phase is completed, we'll fill in the areas where we've had to dig to install the new pipe and allow the ground to recover naturally.

Working hours: Our normal working hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. There may be occasions when we will be present on-site outside of these hours, but we’ll make sure we let local residents know in advance.

  • During this time car parking will remain unaffected, however, some pedestrian footpaths will be closed. Alternative diversion routes will be clearly signposted for you to take. Thank you for your patience, we understand this type of work can be disruptive and we will do all we can to keep noise to a minimum.

  • As we move through this programme of work, we'll make sure the community are updated and will provide advanced notice of any changes. If you have any queries, please get in touch and quote project number 80065382. We'll be happy to help.

Alternatively, there will be a customer representative every Wednesday within the Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre from 10am to 2pm if you prefer to chat in person.
