Dove Stone

Dove Stone is a popular spot with tourists and local residents, and because of this it can often cause a strain on the area. Therefore, we have worked with local stakeholders to create an action plan to improve and protect Dove Stone. Click the Dove Stone action plan below to find out more.

It’s beauty attracts walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and nature lovers, and for the more adventurous, there are activities such as sailing and orienteering.

Wildlife lovers might be lucky enough to spot mountain hares and birds such as Curlew, Peregrine, Golden Plover, Ravens and Red Grouse.

We work closely with RSPB to protect and enhance Dovestone, for example, by undergoing peatland restoration work and also restoring habitats.

Dove Stone action plan

Our aim is to ensure that people who visit our catchment land have an enjoyable and rewarding experience, including places such as Dove Stone. Sometimes, too many visitors can put a strain on the area so we have spoken with local stakeholders to create an action plan to improve the experience of visitors to the Dove Stone area and to minimise the impact on local residents
