Your United Utilities Direct Debit has changed

You do not need to do anything, this is for information only

We’re making a small change behind the scenes to improve how we collect your Direct Debit payment. As a result, we’ve stopped collecting from your old Direct Debit and we've set up a new Direct Debit to replace it. This means your existing service user number we use to take your payment has changed.

If this change to your Direct Debit affects you, we will have sent an email or letter to you outlining the change.

You don’t need to do a thing.

If this change to your Direct Debit affects you, we will have sent an email to you outlining the change. We’ve also included some Q&As below.

  • We are making a small change behind the scenes that does not require you to do anything, it is an administration change on our part that will not impact your water bill payments. The only change you will see will be the reference number that appears against your Direct Debit payment.

  • A Service User Number identifies the company receiving money / payments through a Direct Debit. This is normally the number that is shown on your bank statement against the payment taken.

  • No. There is nothing for you to do, the changes that are being made will not affect your current payment plan. Your plan will continue to be collected on the same date and for the same amount.

  • A number of customers who have been paying Direct Debits for a long period of time had a different reference number to our other customers. This change will ensure that all Direct Debit customers will have the same reference number going forward.
